My Summer in Mexico

Summer 2024 was full of love, girls trips, and fun outfits. I traveled to Tulum, Mexico in July, and one month later, I was in Cancun, Mexico.

Tulum was a celebration of my cousin graduating with her Masters degree. She booked us a beautiful villa that truly reflected the essence of Tulum; earthy tones, greenery, and stone. The trip was filled with so many fun, beautiful moments. Not only did I get to bond with my Cheetah Girls (my cousins), but I also got to know my cousin’s friends, who were so much fun to be around. We ate and ate (shoutout to Diego who was our private chef during our stay) we laughed, danced, explored, and took in the beautiful beachy weather.

Now, Cancun was a trip celebrating my sisters’ birthday. It was a fun, relaxing experience and we stayed at the Hilton Cancun, All-inclusive Resort. Our room was beautiful and spacious, and our balcony had a breathtaking sunset view overlooking the mangrove reserve. I enjoyed the tropical view every morning during breakfast. My sisters and I spent most of our time relaxing, exploring, and enjoying one another’s company. One of my favorite days was the sunset yacht excursion. The view of the sunset as we were floating at sea was nothing short of amazing. It was the perfect way to end the summer.

Almost every outfit I wore during both trips to Mexico came from my closet. I made it a goal not buy anything, unless I had to. The older I get, the more thoughtful I am about the things I add to my wardrobe. I’m a big advocate of wearing what you already have. Mix and match or outfit repeat, the clothes you own deserve to be worn over and over again. Not only does it challenge you to see how many different ways you can put together the pieces in your closet, but it’s also a sustainable practice. I think it also challenges you to buy better and pay closer attention to factors like, how the items are made and rewear value. Before buying anything, I always ask myself, “is this something I can wear multiple times and still love it?” The only things I purchased for Mexico were a green beaded bag from TJ Maxx and a two-piece set for an all white dinner.

Dress (Nordstrom Rack)*, Snakeskin heels (Lulus), Bag (TJ Maxx)

Scarf/top (thrifted/no tag), Orange pants (Depop/ASOS)

Two-piece set (Princess Polly)*, Snakeskin heels (Lulus), Bag (TJ Maxx)

Traveling with my loved ones is a beautiful experience I’ve been blessed to have. The outfits I wore represent these special memories and I’m looking forward to my future adventures. Until next time, thank you for stopping by Fatima’s World.
